About this course
Aquaculture is a rapidly growing primary industry around the world which now supplies more than half the seafood consumed in the world today. This course forms part of the of our Certificate in Aquaculture but can also be taken individually by students wanting to develop a better understanding of the aquaculture industry and working in the industry.
Successful aquaculture involves handling and harvesting fish in a way that does not compromise the health and quality of the fish, as well as monitoring the health and growth across the production cycle. Students learn about the principles of fish handling and harvesting for different life stages and species in aquaculture. The course also teaches students the methods of monitoring growth of fish over the productions cycle to ensure fish grow in an optimal way. Students will also learn about the important aspects of safe working environment that minimises impact on the environment.
This is a great introduction for anyone new to the industry and ideal for new workers wanting to learn about handling and harvesting operations of fish in aquaculture
